World Cup 2010 – Final (Spain vs Netherlands)

(Image from http://2010.sina.com.cn/)

After exactly one month of football matches, both Spain and Netherlands has eliminated all their opponents and books a seat in the Final match. It is not easy, and they have gone through so many obstacles in order to play in the Final. Both team has never won World Cup before, and a new World Champion will be born tonight.

  Spain Netherlands
Match 1 Switzerland (0-1) Denmark (2-0)
Match 2 Honduras (2-0) Japan (1-0)
Match 3 Chile (2-1) Cameroon (2-1)
Round of 16 Portugal (1-0) Slovakia (2-1)
Quarter Final Paraguay (1-0) Brazil (2-1)
Semi Final Germany  (1-0) Uruguay (3-2)

Spain even though lost their first match to Switzerland, but they slowly gain back their momentum, and all the way sail to Final. In fact, they managed to take down German by 1 goal in Semi-Final as most of the people expected Germany to be the World Champion with their superb performance and good teamwork. On the other hand, Netherlands won all the matches and their performance is much more stable and convincing. During their match with mighty Brazilians, the Dutch actually made a superb come back. Robinho scored the opening goal, but the in-form midfielder, Sneijder scored twice and eliminated Brazil. :cheerful:

Meanwhile, not to forget to mention the clash between Germany and Uruguay for the third and forth placing. The genius German striker, Müller scored the first goal for Germany, but two goals from Cavani and Forlan actually helped Uruguay to take back the leading position. Jansen, the German defender leveraged the score few minutes after the Forlan’s goal. Finally, Khedira scored the winning goal for Germany at 82 minute. German won the third place, and in fact they were also third in the previous World Cup.
